IANTD INTRO-to-CAVE DIVER COURSE
Intro cave diver program is designed to provide an introduction to the cave diving environment for Sport Divers.The course develops the minimum skills and knowledge for limited penetration cave diving.

Prerequisites Must be qualified as an Advanced Open Water Diver, Overhead Environment Diver or equivalent qualification (NSS/CDS, NACD or CDAA Cavern Diver). Must provide proof of a minimum of 25 logged dives or sufficient experience to satisfy the instructor that the student has the ability and knowledge to continue into this level of training. Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
The course develops skills and knowledge for cavern diving and describes the dangers involved with cave diving. Planning, environment, procedures, techniques, problem solving and others are covered in the course. Cavern awareness and protection of the fragile cavern environment are taught during our programs
Cave dives are planned around very limited penetrations. The diver may progress cave diving at a conservative pace. Become familiar with techniques and cave environment is an important step before to go further.
Basic/Intro-cave diver Course Description:
Classroom and lecture where your Instructor will discuss the following topics:
Review of the policy for cavern diving, Environment conservation and limit of training, accident analysis, Intro-Cave dive planning, psychological considerations, communication,equipment, body control, techniques, emergency procedures.
Land drills where your instructor will guide you on practical application such as: guideline use, guideline following, emergency procedures, use of a safety reel.
Open water dive your Instructor will demonstrate new techniques and procedures to help you during the journey
Cave dives: four cave dives where you will be practicing Intro cave dives techniques, and emergency procedures guided, supervised and coach by your cave instructor.
Equipment needed for the course:
1) NSS/CDS Cavern Manual, NSS/CDS workbook student manual, IANTD overhead environnement manual, IANTD Nitrox or USN air decompression table.
2) Mask and fins (springs strap recommended)
3) Wet suit ( 5 to 7 min) or dry suit
4) Double Scuba tank (80 cu feet of gas minimum, steel tank recommended with DIN valve)
5) Two First stage regulators (DIN recommended) with 2 second stages (one hose must be 7 foot long 1 m 50 to 2 m)
6) Power inflator for buoyancy compensator
7) Submersible pressure gauge
8) Back plate and back BCD inflation (wing type)
9) One Primary light, Two back-up diving lights
10) Dive Computer or watch and depth gauge,
11) Small knife or Z-knife
12) One Primary reel with a minimum of 350 feet/110m guideline per team
13) One Safety reel with at least 100 feet/30m of guideline
14) Underwater slate
15) Tools box with spare o-rings
16) Three line markers or line arrows
WDT dive can provide equipment rental if needed
