Cave Diving in Florida

Florida caves systems are considered some of the best caves in the world.
Between beauty and clear water conditions it can become challenging to dive in high flow caves, deep water, low visibility areas.

Caves around the world
Cave diving can be practiced in different places around the world. Mexico is well-known for its beautiful cenotes, water is warm clear and shallow most of the time.
We can also find caves in Dominican Republic, Asia, Europe and particularly in France, and in the USA especially in Florida.
In my opinion Florida is one of the best spot to get scuba diving trained and cave diving trained.
1) The caves
We use different cave systems to train our students in Florida, Peacock Springs park and recreation, Little River Springs, Ginnie Springs, Madison Blue Springs, Telford Springs, Manatee Springs and the beautiful and huge system of Eagle's Nest, are part of the most popular caves for training.

2) Water temperature
Water is not to warm and not to cold, temperature averages 70 (20 Celcius) year round. Divers can use wet suit (5 to 7 mn) or dry suit which gives the opportunity to use an equipment close to the one he would use in France as an example.

3) Visibility
Florida caves are well known for their clear and mineral water, but some tunnels are darker. Water color can go from blue turquoise to green even brown reddish due to tannic waters coming from the rivers around.

4) Facilities
Different facilities are located in cave country and they are close to most cave diving systems, students and instructor are not losing time between dives and days are well organised so time is cleverly spent to diving and practice.

5) Accommodation
Students and families have different options when booking a trip to Florida.
 - Cottage: located on site at WDT dive faclilty where the diver can enjoy the country side, horses and other activities.
 - Trailer house: a good option to lodge a group of divers from 2 to 6 people, also located in the country, close to our facility.
 - Hotel or Motel: victorian style bed and breakfast or modern motels are located in town.
